It was an exciting morning around here…I was tending chickens and thinking that the cows from next door were bawling a lot but sounded closer than usual, so they must be right at the fence. Then the ground started to rumble and when I looked up, about 2 dozen beautiful beasts were thundering up from the back of our property in a big hurry. They skidded to a halt in the middle of the back yard, several calves looking around with intense curiosity, but when I walked towards them, speaking softly, they took off a trot around to the front of the house and out to the road, heading back to their own place. One big girl decided to come back, maybe having lost sight of her youngun judging by her udder, but didn’t care for my encouraging words one bit. She went back around to where I suspect the breach in the fence must be, and took herself home. Trish managed to catch just the one photo and Dexter the wonderdog was so annoyed that he wasn’t allowed out until we were sure all beasts were safe and accounted for. He is checking every inch of the perimeter as I write this. Our poor neighbour zipped over on his 4 wheeler, his heart rate running fast enough to be in humming bird territory, and Trish being Trish asked him if he could arrange a repeat performance so we could take more pictures. He took it well.
And how is your morning going?
